The question is, what do y'all think of this dress? Would you pull the trigger?
I have always loved this dress and always fantasized about owning it. It's coming up to summer, this would be a great summer piece. I'd be in Hawaii, where -- hello! -- would this not fit in perfectly with? But the length, the colors, the patch-work-iness... would you?
Love to hear what y'all think!
I love this dress, too! I've seen it in pictures on some celebs and it always is so striking. I have the short top version. The only thing that gave me pause with the dress (well, after the $495 price tag) was the really small bodice, which would not make the girls comfy.
ReplyDeleteI think it's super fly. And in Hawaii, it is like so perfect.
ReplyDeleteTrue. I'm lucky I am not so well-endowed in that area so I usually don't have to worry about that. But SERIOUSLY, J.Crew's fit model has got to be straight as a board, because so many of their pieces are like that. I know I personally have quite a few dresses that are tight on my ladies, and if that's the case with me, I can't imagine on others who have been blessed more than I have!
ReplyDeleteSusan your comment snuck in on me after I posted above. You know you are like my cyber sister, so if you like it, I must trust...
ReplyDeleteI have always LOVED and wanted this dress...it is simply GORGEOUS!!! I would absolutely wear it in Florida and think it would be perfect for Hawaii, as well. One thing...I would be careful of the sizing since it is from a previous season and ask for measurements before committing to purchase it though. :)
ReplyDeleteseriously, you have access to the elusive Talitha dress and you have to ask??? PULLL THE TRIGGER!!! You are gonna look great in it and that is sooooooo appropriate for Hawaii! I can't wait to see pics!
ReplyDeleteGo for it!! This is such a fun piece and I've always admired it from afar. I think it would be perfect for Hawaii. Clearly I'm a fan here!
ReplyDeleteFor Hawaii? Yes, do it!
ReplyDeleteThe pattern/over-all look is bold and it would stretch my comfort zone a bit, however, I love it! I vote buy it.
ReplyDeleteGiiirl, if you've been fantasizing about it forever and ever, DO IT. I personally am not a fan, but only because it reminds me of a giant quilt. And also because I am bitter that I look horrible in long dresses because I am cursed with being ridiculously short.
ReplyDeleteAmy, that's EXACTLY what I'm worried about - the quilt effect. I never thought about that before last night and now as I sit and stare at it I'm a little bothered by it. But I think it is gorgeous and the opportunity may not come by again. This is why I love having friends like y'all - A girl needs to hear all sides!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally on the fence about this one so I won't be much help. I'd be concerned that it would look overwhelming--just like Amy I'm a bit short! I guess if I was in your shoes I'd get it...you could always sell it back on Ebay if it doesn't work for you? There is nothing worse than missing out on something you've wanted for so long!(Okay, dramatic but you get my drift hehe)
ReplyDeleteI think you would totally regret not getting it if you let it slip away. GET IT! It is a beautiful dress.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd regret it heavily too if I let it pass me by... sort of like Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding... (THAT was dramatic!) A few more days of thinking and then I'll make the decision!
ReplyDeleteI think if you have been thinking about it for almost 3 years then YES, you have to pull the trigger. I also think it will be perfect for Hawaii :)
ReplyDeleteWay too beautiful, get it!
ReplyDeleteI think the top in this print/style is cute but the dress is just to over the top. Look for another cute maxi dress for Hawaii.
ReplyDeletehey marisa! i checked back to see if you got the dress or not lol. anyway, hope everything is going well! xo
ReplyDeleteyou need to get that dress before someone else does!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the dress, but not the price. The following spring after this dress was offered at retail, the factory stores offered a knee length version of it that was virtually the same except no black band at the top. I purchased it on sale for about $30 and have enjoyed it these past few summers. The shorter length makes it more practical for day to day, but I wear it with dressy sandals in the evening, too. In fact, I wore it to a luau in Lahaina last fall. The full length is stunning, but the shorter length gives me the option of wearing it comfortably running errands and such. For the price I paid, I'm totally content. Maybe you'll find the shorter version on Ebay for less sting in the pocketbook than the full length.
