Not Allowed to Date...

*Sigh* I am so not allowed to date anything at the moment. I'm a model of restraint and iron will, ladies. I think...

Well, I know for sure that I am loving this dress. I like the color combo, and that it's not too prim - the print I mean. It's got some rough rocker chick to it, it does. So you could wear some killer black non-ladylike shoes and you would look very modern. Or you (meaning moi) could wear it with some flat sandals and hit up a beachside bar, given the impending move to Hawaii. You could throw a cardi over it -- in black, cream, or papaya -- and how cute would you be going to brunch or lunch with the girls. Yes, ladies, this is a dream of a dress. But not with the shoes the model has on. I'm not feeling the shoes with this dress.

Watercolor Potpourri Ames Dress, $148

Onto item in my cart #2, the Neapolitan Pencil Skirt. A big 'ole sigh from me. I love my pencil skirts and I love this one. The print is forgiving on the momma-belly and it's springlike but still not too ultra feminine. This one is $98 and I desperately need a reason to pull the trigger. I want to commit, but I need a reason!

Neapolitan Pencil Skirt, $98

Where is the 20% off Full-Price items promo? I need you, promo. I need you to bring my 2 pieces home to me. Because with 20% I can justify these purchases even though I am gearing up to move to another country in 4 months. It will help me deal with the stressssssss! Hey, there's a reason right there!

  1. I can imagine the dress with all the items you mentioned......each one, beautiful! I am feeling that you have the wardrobe consultant instinct. Would you like to be my stylist?

  2. I will give you a reason to pull the trigger: it's beautiful and I can totally see you in it! I have tried it yesterday and fits like a dream. But I don't wear pencil skirts that much to justify the purchase, so you're in good company ...

  3. I really love that dress! I tried the skirt on and I didn't like it that much on me but it's a really cute skirt.

  4. I saw the skirt live and in person. It rocks. I bought the watercolor potpourri mini last week. Of course, it started to snow five minutes later. And this weekend, 20 billion feet of more snow. That totally puts a damper on spring shopping. And I'm kind of regretting that in the midst of my sparkly and spangly platforms, wedges, kitten heels, etc., that pratical snow boots aren't in my mix. I refuse to wear Uggs based on the principal of ugliness.

I will cross my fingers and wish on a lucky star for 20-percent off code. I got lots of thangs in my shopping cart, too. xoxox.

  5. Oh, if you had to secretly and illicitly "date" a few J.Crew items from the otherwise-somewhat-lackluster Spring lineup, those two are the pieces to do it! Beautiful, both of them. I heart that dress print especially. I'll cross my fingers for a code for you (and me too!) soon.

  6. TOOTD, Girl you should be a stylist!! You have excellent taste!

Ema, I would probably get more wear for my money with the dress but I love the print on the skirt! Oh where or where is that coupon code?

In2itive, Thanks for following my blog and commenting!

Susan, the mini is super cute. The snow is such a Debbie Downer. Here's to hoping you will be prancing around in sandals and skirts soon!

goldenmeans, It really is lackluster. I didn't see these 2 items my first perusal through the new roll out (my eyes must have been blinded by the awful grandmapanty-diaper-bloomer bikini), but am hoping I can hold out for the sale. Patience...patience...

  7. Go for the skirt - anything named after ice cream is a sure winner!

  8. I am so wishing for a coupon code, too. I have decided to do another shopping ban for Lent and there are a couple things I really want before I start...then again, that's probably why I should be taking a shopping break during Lent!!

  9. Nicole, I like the way you think!!

HeidiG, Agreed, a Coupon Code for FP items.. we haven't had for a while and it's due! I'm waiting to pounce! Good luck with the snow this weekend - I've heard it'll be a winter wonderland up there!

  10. Heidi - I did a shopping ban for Lent last year, too. Holy hell, that was difficult. I don't know what I accomplished because in April I went to town buying a ton of gear. LOL.

Honestly, these fashion blogs must drive broads with serious shopping problems batty. LOL.

  11. I love both your choices and I bought both. I highly, highly recommend that dress. It's gorgeous fabric, a lovely cotton sateen, and the fit is divine. I just lept into the deep end with my rewards card and didn't care about the price. I wear a lot of pencil skirts and I like the silk/cotton fabric of the neapolitan. Both items are going to be spring and summer staples for me.

  13. Desert Flower - thanks for the comment - love it when you're able to hear first hand how an item is IRL. I have the Abstract Rose dress from FA 08 and it is also a cotton sateen that I love so am hoping that the dress is similar. I may just have to get the dress first and save up for the skirt 2nd. I'm trying a new thing where I pace myself. :)
