It's Official - We're Dating.

oh dear lord.
oh dear lord. by nojcrewinjapan featuring J Crew

Lordy, lordy. I've blogged recently about how I like this skirt but wondered where would I wear it in my everyday-work-home-work-home life. & I just can't figure it out, but I keep coming back to the gosh darn skirt. Ladies, I am constantly staring at it online. My mind blanks out when I see it, thinking, preeeeeetty......

Well, when I snap back to reality, I start to think, Pretty expensive or Pretty unpractical or even Pretty bling blingy. In fact, all of the above are so, so true.

But DANG am I in love with the skirt. It's even transitioned and is now sitting in my cart. You know what that means right? We're dating, me and the skirt. The skirt and I are an item. We were flirting, not really getting each other, and now the skirt is in my cart. You know, not to get too philosophical, but putting a piece of clothing in the online cart is like a promise ring. As in, I promise to possibly buy you soon, dear sparkly sequiny skirt. Despite your $118 price tag and your limited wearability. J.Crew is a disease, y'all. A sickness! Why else would a sane and mostly smart gal like myself let herself be moved to spend $118 on a sequin-covered skirt?! *Sighs*

Like Forrest Gump said, "'That's all I can say about thy-at.'"

Ok, new topic! Let's discuss wearing J.Crew to Europe this Christmas and how I will be trying to look chic while being very, very cold. My wardrobe is going to revolve around the following:

Or atleast that's my train of thought right now. I like to pack around specific color themes so that everything can go with everything else. You know, matchy-matchy like. In my mind, this should be simple for a trip to Paris since everything will be revolving around black and grey. & the specifically, everything will revolve around black, skinny pants or jeans, flat boots (either semi motorcycle-ish low to mid calf, or your more typical equestrian style). I plan to bring one pair of dressy heels just in case, TB Revas just because, and a pair of Chuck Taylor's.

Your thoughts always welcome!

  1. I know it is only a matter of time...give us a review when it comes!!! I also pack around colors, it makes it much easier when traveling, even if it's only for a weekend.

  3. I totally agree with you in "J.Crew is a disease." I have to convince myself out of something for couple days when I want something really bad but I now I'll probably get only few wearings out of. But the skirt looks fabulous.
Love the choices for your upcoming trip. I have the marled cardigan, haven't worn out yet since it's so hot here, but I'm really excited about it.

  4. I dig on that sequins skirt, too, but I know it's way too impractical for my ass - that is now in its thirties. Hee.

I do have the marled cardigan and perfect pencil skirt in the fab purple/lilac color in my cart waiting for a 20 percent off code.

If your heart wants sequins, go for the skirt! It would look cute going out to a schi schi dinner or cocktail place.

  5. The skirt looks so cute. I am a nut for sequins, so I can't help you in this case. I gotta say...$118 is not bad for it. I guess the Crew disease is a psychosis and I've adjusted to their price points accordingly.

    Europe -- so lucky. :-)

  6. Shannon at Wardrobe Review said that blacks and greys are super "in" right now in Paris, so your outfit plans are right on! I think that gorgeous marbled sweater will keep you nice and cozy, too!

J.Crew is definitely a sickness, and I usually end up pulling the trigger on my cart items. It's a nasty addiction, and I think we need 12 step programs!

  7. All you ladies are fab - the advice, reviews and comments really brightened my day!

@Kathy - LOL you know me too well! I fear it is only a matter of time, too! If, no, WHEN I get it, I'll let you know!

@Tres Tippy - I seriously need to take a chill pill with the shopping I've done in the last month or so. Especially when you consider I'm planning my trip too! Thanks for the advice on the skirt. I hope I can stay away from it, but I don't know if I'm strong enough!!! ;-P

@JCMama - J.Crew is the worst kind of disease! The worst! Do you like the marled cardi? It's finally getting cool enough here for me to wear it. I'm excited!

@Susan - LOL! Girl I'm 30 and we can BOTH still wear sequins! I love the color of your perfect pencil skirt - preeeeeetty!!

@Gigi - The worst part is that I KNOW that for a J.Crew ANYTHING to have sequins sewn on and be $118, it IS a deal!!! Sick!! & me loveth the bling bling. Hold me back!

@Amy Kelinda- I saw Shannon's review of Paris and it made me swoon! I even showed it to my husband to tell him to get on it with his wardrobe planning! he he. There should be a 12 step program for J.Crew addicts, for real! I just have to tell myself to WALK AWAY from the cart and leave the MAC where it is. But the skirt is calling me!

  8. I'm agree that the skirt is adorable but like you seems very impractical for everyday life at the office. I know J.Crew lately has been toning down looks to a more casual feel with a t-shirt but I still just don't think I could get a ton of use out of it.
