My Crazy Trash Schedule

Japan is definitely on-board with the trash recycling, and admirably so. It is an island nation with a finite amount of space and a large population relative to available land. Knowing this, I am happy to recycle. I'm just saying... it can get confusing at times. Voila, my weekly trash schedule.

How this has affected me: Glass anything with a label has to be soaked to get the label off before it goes out in the trash. Same goes for canned goods, though those labels come off much more easily. Milk cartons are cut up to lay flat before they're bundled up with twine with other flattened cardboard. When hubby buys beer, I am GIDDY when he gets cans - it's just less work to be thrown away! & garbage bags... extremely specific to my little town, they are only available at supermarkets near my home and are EXPENSIVE.

Oh, and the homme de garbage, he is happy to sidestep my grungy bags and bundles if they are not packed to his regimented liking. Kinda like Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, just delete soup, and insert garbage. This exact list is posted to my fridge and is referred to constantly. It's giving me a complex! Well, just thought I'd share a part of living in Asia that you may never hear about.
